Addendum 2: New RoHS compliant plating for multi-layer chip components.
As of 11/1/04, Fair-Rite Products Corp. has changed its termination plating on all multi-layer chip beads and chip inductors from Sn/Pb to 100% tin over a nickel undercoating.
This compliant plating, which is also universally acceptable, has been used on our other components such as Beads on Leads and Surface Mount products since 2004, and will standardize a uniform termination plating on all of our board level products.
This is a seamless transition since the soldering profiles for both types of plating are similar. Also, since the termination composition does not affect product performance, no re-qualification is necessary.
We trust that this change will not cause any inconvenience.
